Pixellated Arrays

  • Multilayer Scintillation Arrays are often used to improve the resolution of PET (Position Emission Tomography), BGO, LYSO(Ce) are usual crystals used in multilayer scintillation arrays, and sometimes the lightguide is added, the accurate size and gaps of the each pixels and whole arrays are critical for mulitlayer arrays. Hangzhou Shalom EO provide the customized multilayer arrays, we are able to make multilayer scintillation arrays upto 4~5 layers.
  • LYSO(Ce) array is a  kind of crystal matrix which is the most popular array used in Positron Emission Tomography(PET) facility. LYSO(Ce) array is an essential component used in Positron Emission Tomography(PET) facility, included whole body, small animal and specific organ like brain, Breast, thyroid, etc. Cerium doped Lutetium Yttrium Silicate scintillation crystal (LYSO Ce scintillator) is an ideal generation scintillator crystal. LYSO scintillator has the advantages of high light output and density, quick decay time, excellent energy resolution. These properties make LYSO an ideal candidate for a range of ray detection applications in nuclear physics and nuclear medicine, which require higher, improved timing resolution and superior energy revolution. LYSO (Lu 1.8Y.2SiO5:Ce) is a Cerium doped Lutetium based scintillation crystal that offers high density and short decay time.  It is ideal for applications that require higher throughput, better timing and energy resolution, including time-of-flight PET. PET applications have traditionally used arrays of BGO. LYSO crystal competes directly on density and surpasses BGO on energy resolution, timing and throughput. • Thallium doped cesium iodide (or CsI(Tl)) is one of the brightest scintillators with the fluorescence spectrum with maximum at 550 nm, which allows using photodiodes for detection of the emission. Because a scintillator-photodiode pair can be used, it is possible to reduce significantly the size of the detection system, to do without a high-voltage power supply, and to use the detection system in magnetic fields. CsI(Tl) has a high effective atomic number and consequently larger cross-section of the gamma-radiation photoabsorption. CsI(Tl) has very good stopping power, is slightly hygroscopic and with good plastic mechanical properties. Combined with a relatively good radiation hardness properties, CsI(Tl) is also well suited for High Energy Physics. It is used in Phoswiches for whole body counting and X-ray astronomy as the "guard crystal" with typically a thin NaI(Tl) as the primary detector. Depending on growth conditions CsI(Tl) crystals can be obtained with low afterglow for application in tomographic systems. Hangzhou Shalom EO provide the one dimension or 2 dimension CsI(Tl) pixellated arrays which are used in the X-Ray scanning systems for medical and security applications. The PD can be also assemblied with CsI(Tl) array if it is required. For more info on CsI(Tl) crystals, click: CsI(Tl) crystals.
  • Bismuth germanate Bi4Ge3O12 (BGO) is one of the most widely used heavy oxide scintillation materials. BGO has a high atomic number (83) of the heavy component Bi and a high density of the material (7.13 g/cm3). The luminescence spectrum of BGO scintillators has a maximum in the visible spectral range at 480 nm. Among advantages of BGO crystals, one should note their non-hygroscopicity, mechanical and radiation stability. BGO crystals are stable under radiation doses of up to 103 rad. Another important advantage of BGO crystals is a nearly complete absence of afterglow. The decay time of the main scintillation component of BGO at room temperature is 300 ns. All these advantages of BGO crystal are successfully used in experiments of high-energy physics, for creation of small-sized tomography devices and an active protection from background activity. Dimensions of BGO crystal array and pixel are customized based on request. For more info on BGO crystals, click: BGO crystals.
  • Y2SiO5:Ce (YSO:Ce) or Cerium doped Silicate Yttrinm is a bright and fast light scintillator with the emission peaked at 420 nm, easy to match with PMT and SiPM. it has similar decay time with LYSO(Ce) (50-70ns), but no background(Lutecium). Mechanical processing of YSO:Ce scintillators is easier compared to other silicates. YSO(Ce) is often made into pixellated array and multi-layer arrays for nuclear medicine PET applications.  For more information on YSO (Ce) scintillators, click: YSO (Ce) scintillators.
  • GAGG(Ce) has best light output in all series of oxide crystal. Besides, it has good energy resolution, High density, non-selfradiation, Non- hygroscopic. It’s widely used in PET, PEM, SPECT, CT , X-ray &Gamma ray detection. Yttrium aluminium garnet Y3Al5O12:Ce (YAG:Ce) and Lutetium Aluminum Garnet activated by cerium (Lu3Al5O12:Ce, LuAG:Ce) are fast and bright scintillation materials. The decay time is 70-100 ns. This is of advantage in time dependent and coincidence measurements. The wavelength of scintillation emission is about 530-550 nm, which is ideal for photodiode and avalanche diode readout. GAGG(Ce) is an ideal scintillation crystals, which is widely used in Nuclear medicine (Medical imaging system, such as Position Emission Tomography, PET, PET/CT, and SPECT scan system), Neutron sensor, Oil detection equipment and security inspection equipment.  For more information on GAGG(Ce) scintillators, click: GAGG(Ce) scintillators.
  • Cadmium tungstate (CdWO4) is a high density, high atomic number scintillator with relatively high light yield, and extreme low after glow. The after glow at 3ms is less than 0.1%. The emission maximum is at 475nm and the total light output is 12 to 15 photons/keV. The light yield relative to NaI(Tl) on a bialkali PMT is 30 to 50%. The high density and stopping power of CdWO4 make it an efficient absorber, particularly for high energy X-ray. It takes only 3mm to stop up to 150keV photons. CdWO4 arrays are widely used in X-CT equipment, it has extremely low afterglow property, which is of great importance of fast inspection, especially in the cargo container of customs, while in the X-CT equipment due to its relatively high light output, high density and strong prevention of X ray property, also in the high energy physics because of its strong anti-radiation.
  •  When the dimension of the scintillating crystals or arrays is unmatched with the target read out system, a light guide is needed to match them. Hangzhou Shalom EO provide the light guide made from BK7 optical glass according to your requirements, please contact with me when you need the light guide.
