The rectangular shaped NaI(Tl) scintillator is also a usual type of  g ray detector, whose NaI(Tl) crystal is cut into a rectangular and encapsulated in aluminum or steel cases with an optical windows on the top.  For measurements, the radiation would enter from bottom or side face of the rectangualar, and flurescence light output can be obtained from the optical window on the top, an uniform light output and the excellent energy resolution could be obtain for this type of design, and this type of the NaI(Tl) scintillators are widely used for in scintillation measurement or scintillation spectrometer detector for ordinary g ray.
